Digital forwarders and the global networks have spent years and large budgets on instant
quotes, online booking, client portals and live tracking. Their clients now expect it from
every forwarder.
Small and mid-size forwarders work the same trade lanes, often with more care and closer
relationships. But they quote from spreadsheets and e-mail and keep shipments in several
separate tools. Building what the large players have used to mean buying servers and
licences, hiring consultants and running an IT department.
These forwarders know the trade as well as anyone. What they have lacked is access to the
technology.
